The Language of
our Dreams
Monika Toplev x Vis À Vis Tanztheater
The Language of our Dreams brings together a meditative, quietly evocative selection of paintings by Monika Toplev. Works that invite the viewer to pause, look inward, and follow the imagery of the subconscious. On the 22nd of August, the exhibition opens into movement: Vis À Vis Tanztheater, the international dance ensemble directed by Anneliese Monika Koch, presents a live performance that responds to the paintings, translating their dreamlike language into gesture and space. For one evening, canvas and choreography meet in a shared exploration of memory, imagination, and the images we carry from sleep into waking life.

Beyond the Noise
Gillian Rosselli
Mit Gillian Rosselli präsentiert die Galerie Toplev eine der bedeutendsten zeitgenössischen Malerinnen Simbabwes: Im Jahr 2024 vertrat sie ihr Heimatland auf der Biennale in Venedig, einem der renommiertesten Kunstforen der Welt. Zu ihren weiteren herausragenden Meilensteinen zählen die Ausstellung „Five Bhobh – Painting At the End of an Era“ im Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa in Kapstadt, Südafrika (2018); „Hunyanzvi (Mastery)“ – eine Gruppenausstellung mit Werken von zehn führenden simbabwischen Künstlern in der Galerie Grisebach, Zürich (2025); die Einzelausstellung „Episodes of the Whole“ in der THK Gallery, Kapstadt (2025). THK präsentierte Rossellis Werke auf der AKAA in Paris (2024) und auf der Investec Cape Town Art Fair in Kapstadt (2025). Ihre Karriere wurde mit zahlreichen Preisen gewürdigt, darunter der erste Preis für Malerei in Simbabwe im Jahr 1995. Die Verbindung der Künstlerin zu Salzburg reicht bis zu ihrer Teilnahme an der Salzburger Sommerakademie im Jahr 1999 zurück. Seitdem kehrt sie regelmäßig in die Pinzgau-Region zurück, einen Ort, der ihr Kraft und Inspiration schenkt, wie es einst schon für viele renommierte Künstler vor ihr der Fall war. Diese Verbindung setzt sich mit der Ausstellung „Beyond The Noise“ fort, in der Rosselli neue Werke aus ihrem Wiener Atelier präsentiert.

BEWEGUNG. GESTUS. EMOTION.
Monika Herschberger
Auf Einladung der Galerie Toplev präsentiert Herschberger ihre neuesten Gemälde im Rahmen ihrer lebensbejahenden Ausstellung „Bewegung.Geste.Emotion“. Die Ausstellung umfasst eine Vernissage und einen Künstlergespräch mit der Künstlerin. Leinwand, Pinsel, Jazzmusik Die Werke von Monika Herschberger zeichnen sich durch den Einsatz intensiver Farben und bildnerischer Dynamik aus. Insbesondere die Verwendung von Acrylfarben, oft kombiniert mit leuchtenden Neonfarben und Pastellkreiden, sorgt für eine unmittelbare visuelle Präsenz. Ihre Werke bewegen sich zwischen impulsiver Energie und ruhigen, fast meditativen Momenten. Monika Toplev x Vis À Vis Tanztheater
„Die Sprache unserer Träume“ vereint eine meditative, still-stimmungsvolle Auswahl an Gemälden von Monika Toplev. Werke, die den Betrachter dazu einladen, innezuhalten, in sich zu gehen und den Bildern des Unterbewusstseins zu folgen. Am 22. August erwacht die Ausstellung zum Leben: Das Vis À Vis Tanztheater, das internationale Tanzensemble unter der Leitung von Anneliese Monika Koch, präsentiert eine Live-Performance, die auf die Gemälde eingeht und deren traumhafte Sprache in Gestik und Raum übersetzt. An diesem einen Abend treffen Malerei und Choreografie aufeinander, um gemeinsam Erinnerung, Vorstellungskraft und die Bilder zu erforschen, die wir aus dem Schlaf ins Wachleben mitnehmen.

I'm Naked - So What?

I'm Naked - So What? brings together two painters, Krassimir Kolev and Monika Toplev, in a joint exhibition centered on the nude as statement. Kolev's figures emerge from dense, gestural fields of grey, built up in his signature technique that hovers between figuration and abstraction; bodies caught mid-thought, exposed and unresolved. Toplev's nudes, by contrast, carry her familiar poetic lightness with luminous color, natural motifs, and a tenderness that softens confrontation into invitation. Together, the two bodies of work pose the same quiet challenge from different directions: what does it mean to be seen without armor, and why should that unsettle us at all? The exhibition also includes the works of Andrea Schwanda-Mathews and her fellow artists from "Die Ausstellung".
